1. What`s your background / previous experience?

I’m a civil engineer from India with a wide range of experience. I have worked on various diversified projects across India, the UAE and the UK. Over the past years, I've been involved in projects with direct BIM implementation, workflow, standards, virtual design & coordination. I have worked between numerous sectors and have experience in various fields, including commercial, residential, educational and transportation. I have also practical experience of using BIM for large-scale critical projects, and have worked on one of Britain’s most iconic project, High-Speed Rail 2 (HS2).

2. What attracted you to Atkins?

I have tremendous enthusiasm for landscape design. Atkins reputation is certainly a factor, and I am proud to work for a company with such an excellent track record, an award-winning team with a broad portfolio of projects. Atkins offers a unique environment for me to expand my professional skills, and I love taking on a new challenge to make something great even better.

3. What kind of projects will you be working on?

Currently, I have been involved with a couple of multidisciplinary projects, which include educational, highways, public realm, etc. My project entails creating new designs from scratch, as well as extending and renovating existing historic properties throughout the United Kingdom. One of the projects I’m taking part is the refurbishment of Barbican Podium Phase 2 in the city of London and Leeds City station forecourt refurbishment, a £32m public realm project.

4. What’s your philosophy and what are the big changes you see in urban design?

A great Urban design is fundamental if we are to create appealing, superior-quality, sustainable places where people want to live, work, and relax. There's a clear desire for better designed places that inspire and can be treasured, places where dynamic networks can develop and thrive. To accomplish this, we must influence positive transformation and create unique visions. The role of digital technology and BIM in making our cities smarter and more sustainable while improving our quality of life remains to be determined. Current technology enables the creation of a virtual model that is identical to the actual city, opening a broad new field of possibilities. As a result, costs, time, and resources are saved. Technology has always provided a way to better control, standardize, and deliver higher quality design and construction.
