The design language of ‘Lumière Riverside’ is truly unique and customised to the place and vision of the project, setting a new benchmark design within HCMC’s District 2 and beyond. The area is known to be popular among young intellectuals and expatriates who have healthy lifestyles, attracting services such as organic food stores, restaurants using natural ingredients, gyms, yoga studios. These lifestyles have been the inspiration for the design of Lumière riverside - a green oasis in the heart of the city.
The design geometries are inspired by leaf venation, to encourage future residents to have lifestyles close to nature. When viewed from above, the project’s master plan simulates the image of mint leafscape with diverse and transparent polygonal pieces, bringing a new visual experience to residents.
The leafscape concept can be found through the arrangement of polygonal pave stones alternating with freshly green grass patches. The lobby roof is also stylized with a strong twisted leafscape design, creating a sense of solidity and elegance with natural wood finishing. Water flowing from the waterfall down to the infinity swimming pool also follows a sculpted leafscape designed path. Even the pool's water surface reflects a mint-leafscape of polygons with vivid shades of colour.
This project aims to become a new benchmark destination with the design of a vibrant and contemporary public realm along a 2.5km public corridor and festival square, including retail promenades, plaza’s playgrounds and a wide range of themed spaces.
We adopted a sensitive design methodology based on profound research and site understanding. The design is inspired by the various cultural references including the local fishermans stilts, that are adopted and are translated into functional spaces with appropriate use and scale.
The design aims to capitalize on the site’s unique location while celebrating the tremendous cultural richness of the province, giving the project a unique identity.
This development is located at HCMC’s oldest and most important maritime heritage site which has a rich cultural and historic background, dating back to the 17th Century. The French name for dry dock, “Bassin de Radoub” is said to have given rise to the Vietnamese name, “Ba Son”. The shipbuilding history has been of great inspiration for various landscape features located within the public realm, embracing activities that once took place here, to visualize the unique history of the site.
The development will add approximately 10 hectares of high-quality public realm space, including an approximately 850m long continuous waterfront promenade, to the city. This newly developed public space will provide a pleasant and much-needed recreational opportunity along the Saigon River for both the Ba Son Residents and other visitors.
This design will revitalize the existing breakwater pier by making it accessible to the public. The project intends to extend the spirit of Kai Tak onto the breakwater, promoting public engagement of all age groups and provide an artistic and “Instagram-able” space for people to visit and interact with.
The concept ‘Cloud Pier’ compromises pre-cast seawall segments that reflect a ‘cloud-like’ edge treatment due its modular organic shape. Innovative lighting features are integrated to create a unique experience at night. Clusters of small LED lights mounted on flexible carbon fibre rods will bend within the wind to reflect the natural dynamics of the site surroundings. The larger pole light features aim to evoke the maritime character of the site as their shape mimics ship masts with small navigation lights on top.
City of Dreams Mediterranean is a 36 ha integrated casino resort project in Limassol, on the southern coast of Cyprus. Atkins’ scope included architecture and landscape, together with MEP and Structural design services.
The resort accommodates approximately 6,000 m2 of pool areas and over 700m of pool edge in length, 2,900 m2 of grand lawn, a 300 m2 pool bar and a 600 m2 all-day dining outdoor terrace. The City of Dreams Mediterranean will seek to offer guests an atmosphere resembling the old town area of Nicosia, the Republic’s largest city, with an emphasis on the lush and floral greenery, meandering pathways and picturesque views, giving guests the impression of being in a village overlooking the hillside.
Designed with the traditional Cyprus landscape and architecture style as inspiration, the hotel area landscape consists of meandering flagstone paths that connect to various spaces. As guests walk through the different spaces, they are surrounded by lush trees and vegetation. The aim of the planting design is to intrigue the senses by using aromatic plants and native species as much as possible.
