Mirfa Bay - Abu Dhabu, UAE

The Mangrove View development is intended to be a new waterfront retail destination that will become the key attraction in Mirfa. The total site area is approximately 12 Hectares.

The design brief for the project is to include numerous flexible open spaces to optimise the waterfront for a rich mix of residential and retail units which are activated by recreational facilities such as a skate park, splash park, Laser Tag, MUGA courts and outdoor gyms.

Circulation through the site is to be achieved through a robust network of pedestrian routes. The biggest challenge was to optimise development priorities keeping in mind the sensitive mangrove ecosystem along the coast. Planting design played a major role in this design to modulate effective circulation, optimise natural biodiversity in an irrigation deficit region, as well as build up the aesthetic context of the waterfront. Instagrammable landscape is a theme in Mirfa where sculptural signage and water features are integrated.
